The Secret Of The Green, Green Grass Of Home

A long time ago travelers came back from their trips speaking of great riches and abundant acres waiting for people to make their homes on them. Since then millions have crossed the great seas and trekked across miles of country to begin a new life in these rich lands.

To assist these migrants in their endeavours the industrial age began and with it automation and oil and then began the slow decline of the very air we breathe. In many lands children are so filled with contaminants that we are seeing a beginning of a new legacy of decay and destruction.

America refused to ratify the Kyoto Protocol and President George Bush is not alone in the blame here although as the leader of one of the biggest destroyers of our air along with China, he has to carry the shame of America. But then for the longest time in his eyes there was no such thing as global warming and all the evidence to the contrary was being presented by reactionaries and as such not to be taken seriously.

The US has been classified as the greediest country in the world with the amount of fossil fuels that are used in proportion to population and refusal to join other countries in an all out effort to combat global warming. The fact that America has left it up to individuals and companies alike to make their own choices in the way of cleaning up the US is sad and pathetic and typical of politicians who do not want to be true leaders. Oh; what was the reason they were voted into office?

Wonder what the next President will do for global warming? America likes to do things in a big way, so maybe the next President will do something really big for reducing global warming. Especially if she / he is not connected to the oil companies and not swayed by lobbyists.

Richard Branson has recently sat before the UN making a grand suggestion of a War Room approach to finding a fix for global warming and is receiving worthy attention that may actually be acted upon.

(MSN) The main difference is global warming is truly visible unlike the so called missiles of mass destruction etc. Where were they again, oh they are hidden, right!

To be honest if every man, woman and child do not do their part and actually drive their favourite politicians to approve of a positive action in all industrialized nations especially in the US and China all these protocols and war rooms will be just for show and may as well go up in smoke like our world currently is.

We can all start by increasing the drive for recycling paper, plastic, glass, cans and anything else that the recycling centers approve of and this will be a positive start in the best direction of forward momentum. The lake of plastic that is floating in the South Pacific has to be reduced and others prevented from forming or else we will not have oceans to enjoy and wildlife may become extinct as so many are already on the red list of endangered species.

The green green grass of home may someday become a category in museums all over the world and one has to agree that this would not be a very acceptable outcome of a journey that commenced many moons ago.
